For once, there is a little give and take between the love interest in L. Penelope's Song of Blood and Stone. I love that both Jack and Jasminda rescue each other rather than the man always saving the girl. There were some parts of the book that was predictable although I still enjoyed the book as a whole.
My favorite part of the book was the collected fairy tales at the beginning because they feel like you could actually find them in a bookshelf in this fantasy realm or the real world. Part of me wishes there was a map at the beginning of the book because I got lost on where we were supposed to be in the book.
I'd recommend this book if you enjoy fantasy or magic. If you are interested in books with a different type of character then this is the book for you.
