Rift by Andrea Cremer is an absolute delight. I found myself turning pages and being annoyed when I had to stop reading it.
I fell in love with Ember and Barrow and I need more of them in my life. The world building is on par with this author and I fell in love with the beginning history of Nightshade.
This book does take place before Nightshade, but it gives people a perfect glance into how the world that Calla and the gang knows came to be. The only downside to this is that if you read Nightshade before this you know how it ends.
If you have read neither series yet then I would highly recommend that you read these little prequels so to speak of the Nightshade world. It will not disappoint.
