The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis

"This is how I kill someone."

Oh Alex, you poor sweet broken thing. I just want to hug her.

This book is dark, deep, and gritty with looking at different perspectives of rape through Peekay (the preacher's kid), Alex (her older sister was raped and killed by a man and Alex turned into a Taylor Swift song. I really feel like "Look What You Made Me do" is highly appropriate for this book or at least it kept going through my head every time Alex got away with a crime). And I like Jack's POV and how he felt guilty for something he had no control over. He didn't kill Alex's sister, but there is a tiny part of him that feels responsible.

If you want to sum up this book it can be summed up with the opening sentence. (The quote I have at the beginning) because yes Alex you really do know how to kill someone a couple someones to be exact.

The ending killed me and I could barely finish reading it through the tears (it was not a pretty sight).

5 out of 5 stars
